Remembering My Adolescents Years!

I Woke Up Today Remembering All The Years Of The Great Adolescents Punk Rock Music! Visit Adolescents Below:

The Adolescents are an American punk rock band formed in 1980 in Fullerton, California. From its earliest days, the band has functioned as a kind of So-Cal punk rock super group, being formed from early members and originals of notable bands such as, ‘Agent Orange’ and ‘Social Distortion’. Those early years prepared them for a successful, long running Adolescents presence that ascended the band into punk rocks hall of fame history books.

JELLO BIAFRA AND THE GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Full-length #2 picks up where the Shock-u-py! EP left off! Covered in gruesome detail this time are corruption (“The Brown Lipstick Parade”, “Werewolves of Wall Street,” “Road Rage,”) and corporate McMedia making pop stars out of small-time crooks to shield the big ones (“John Dillinger”) or tabloid pop stars to lobotomize everyone else (“Hollywood Goof Disease”). The title track shines a light on our never-ending foreign-policy disasters in ways even Jello’s spoken word albums never did. “Crapture” is the perfect song to play for those lovely “End Times” believers, pointing out how much better the world will be when they leave and we’re “Left Behind”- with melodies on the scale Biafra hasn’t really touched since “Moon Over Marin.” Click below to continue reading at Alternative Tentacles Website.

Maty’s Corner #25 1,2,3 Nuke HB! Die Hunns

Maty’s Corner #25

1,2,3 Nuke HB! Die Hunns

            Starting in 2000 out of the So Cal scene was Die Hunns. One of the many bands led by Duane Peters. This band had 2 incarnations, one was Duane Peters and The Hunns which released 2 albums. The other was the better known Die Hunns which included Corey Parks on bass. They were an awesome mix of old school street punk and skate punk.

            2000 marked their first release with Unite. It opens up with Youth Ain’t A Fountain which is a gnarly rippin’ track. The most incendiary is Nuke HB, something I have chanted while skating around Huntington Beach. This is 14 tracks of Duane doing punk the only way he knows how, which is an awesome disaster.

            2001 gave us the second of  not under the Die Hunns name, being Tickets to Heaven. This is one of my favorite releases by Duane. From Love N’ Hate wich sounds like a Bukowski rambling with a sonic background to Wild Cards which rings like some kind of call to action. The whole album just blisters through running you over if you’re not ready.

            2002 kicked the door in with the second D.P. and Hunns album Wayward Bantams which contains many of their greatest songs. Starting with Surf Sacrifice “the surf is down in the streets!” This rolls right into Skate Away which is as good a session track as any. Also the nod to the end of the Z Boys era Dog Bowl Love. This also features an early version of War of the Worlds.

            2004 came out with the revamped Die Hunns in Long Legs. Corey Parks of Nashville Pussy fame rocks bass and some vocal duties on this. They re-did some of the old Hunns tracks such as Hate N’ Love. Also a re-do of Wild Cards that gave it a stand out a new life. This was beginning of an evolution of the Hunns sound with a bit of down n’ dirty rock in the mix.

            2006 kicked even harder with You Rot Me. Opening with the middle finger of Mad Society this album tells ya how it’s gonna fucking be. Then it slides into Jorge a near bluesy song about a vato drug dealer. It’s got a couple of rager tracks as well like the title track and the nihilistic death threat of 47th Street.

            2007 gave us Die Huns’ final release of Live Fast. It features gnarly covers of AC/DC’s Back In Black and Van Halen’s Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love. Both of these rock more than the original. This was a great swan song for this amazing band. So check out the skate punk band that spent some time on Volcom Records. Then grab your skate, look down from the edge and drop in!

The FIDLAR Band Review A Look Back At 2013 What A Year

The FIDLAR Band Review

The Skate Punk Band Making Waves Out Of California…

Fidlar B and B

“FIDLAR” is a skate punk band from Los Angeles, California. The band’s name is an acronym for ‘Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk’; a skate mantra created by singer Zac Carper’s former roommates. The members of FIDLAR were seemingly destined from birth to play in a band. Originally, FIDLAR went under the name ‘Fuck The Clock.’ Three years after recording their first songs they stepped on stage and out of the gate teamed up with The Black Lips’ and went on tour with The Hives, what kind of luck do these kids have?

Fidlar_025Elvis Kuehn (guitar/vocals) and Max Kuehn (drums) are the sons of Greg Kuehn, keyboardist for Long Beach punk legends T.S.O.L., while Zac Carper (vocals/guitar) is the son of famed custom surfboard crafter and designer to the pros, John “JC” Carper, who works out of his home based shop in Oahu Hawaii. Along with Brandon Schwartzel (of Rooney fame) on bass, the Kuehn brothers and Carper came together in 2009 to form their local garage/skate punk band known as FIDLAR.

Before long, the four members were cohabiting in a pad on Figueroa Street, rehearsing DIY garage style and recording on site their newest tunes, and throwing insane house parties every weekend. They soon became the talk of the L.A. underground punk scene and went on the road full-time, and haven’t looked back yet.

Fidlar_Music1

FIDLAR haven’t stopped touring since their early beginning performing local high school-house parties, when known as “Fuck The Clock” before 2009. FIDLAR is the band to keep an eye on now as they carry the torch, and continue to make news in the underground punk rock world, proving punks not dead in skateboarding, it’s very much alive. I haven’t gotten juiced up for a sk8 punk band since 1980’s band the ‘Faction.’

Fidlar06

In their title song “Cheap Beer” lyrics say;

“Getting fucked up on the 101, shooting our guns and having fun, 40 beers later and a line of speed, eight-ball of blow and a half-a-pound of weed. (chorus) I drink cheap beer so what fuck you…”

In the song titled “Stoked and Broke,” lyrics say;

“I just want to get really high, smoke weed until I die, I don’t ever wanna get a job, if I fucked up today, hey nothings wrong. Get pissed up by the hills, cocaine and shitty pills, get head in a broken car, with the windows up and the lights turned off. There’s nothing wrong with living like this, all my friends are pieces of shit…

The band is constantly making references to weed, cocaine, girls, guns, surfing, skating, L.S.D, pills and having no money. The songs make perfect sense for a generation of young skaters who just don’t give a fuck. Before long I was singing some of the chorus’s while driving down the road…”Wake – Bake – Skate.” These guys make me feel 22 again.
