Punk Politics # 10

Now El Trump is sounding like a 3rd world dictator following a suggestion from Falwell the Insane. It goes that Trump is owed an extra 2 years because people checked his power and legitimacy. Ya got me fucked up. Some dismiss this as bluster. I honestly think these psychopaths are serious. It’s very disturbing and telling that the celebrity wing of Christianity upholds Trump who is literally the least Christian (in the simple sense of a Christ following idea) president of the past 40 years. I’m sure we’re all familiar with the ever growing list of evidence that he has bad morals. I do find this more a threat than bravado based on Trump’s flagrant disinterest in the rule of law. This next year and a half is gonna be interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see alt-right goons at the polls for some old fashioned voter intimidation.

Peter 118: Punk as F**k

So a new punk band has been burning up social media and the center of some controversy. Now some may be wondering what makes a punk band controversial in 2018? The fact that they’re unabashed Christians. Now for those who don’t think that’s punk, you’re missing the point. Punk is about challenging the status quo. In the 80’s it was Thatcher and Reagan. Well when the status quo is atheism and overly tight black jeans in our own stagnating scene, then a guy in tan cargo shorts singing about Jesus is Joe freaking Strummer. It’s not about whether or not you believe in God. It’s about whether or not you still believe in punk at a time where Nazis are a real and true threat on both sides of the pond. The musically cool thing about Peter 118 is the variance of influences. One track sounded like Riverdales, one like 80’s Bad Religion and another like old street punk. So check em out. And don’t be a jerk about other’s beliefs, unless they’re Nazis.

I want a number of ya punk rockers to write about whatever your faith is and how it works into your being punk rock/ Hardcore. I know I can find both Christians and Atheists here. I am looking for all faiths to get a good range of viewpoints. Maybe we can all learn something. Message or comment the blog or page if this is something you wish to be a part of.
